Thomas Kalil, Deputy Director for Policy for the White House, Office of Science and Technology Policy,
Executive Office of the President, recently explained how the Maker Movement is driving progress in
In recent years, participation in the Maker Movement by individuals and organizations across
the United States and around the world has grown dramatically. More individuals are interested
in being producers, not just consumers, and 2.3 million people have attended Maker events
around the world. The hardware and software tools needed to design and make just about
anything are becoming more powerful, less expensive, and easier to use, and individuals can
now get access to these tools at both commercial and non-profit Makerspaces, TechShops, and
Fab Labs. More and more organizations are recognizing the value of Making for education,
workforce development, innovation and entrepreneurship, advanced manufacturing, and
economic development, including leading companies such as Intel, Autodesk, Chevron, Ford,
Google, and GE.
Atlanta is rich in the innovation and creativity that define the Maker Movement. Please join us for this
very exciting event to see how Atlantans (and Georgians) are helping lead the Maker Movement in the
Southeast . The Faire is on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm in the atrium at
Atlanta City Hall. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
